Schon bevor der Begriff Gravel Bike existierte, sind Menschen dem Reiz des Rennradfahrens auf Feld- und Waldwegen erlegen. 2010 hat das Feldwegfieber die Harry Otter Bluespunk Society aus Leipzig erwischt, ein Dirtroad-Etappenrennen zwischen Radebeul und Leipzig musste organisiert werden. Critical Dirt – A Study in Crossification war geboren, 2011 folgte eine viertägige Etappenfahrt von Göttingen nach Görlitz. Das Spirit Animal der Gruppe war und ist Harry Otter, der Patron des Slow Motion Riding. Remember Gravel before Gravel was Gravel.

Even before the term gravel bike existed, people succumbed to the appeal of riding a road bike on dirt roads and forest tracks. In 2010, the Harry Otter Bluespunk Society from Leipzig caught the dirt road fever and a gravel stage race between Radebeul and Leipzig had to be organized.
